Background:
- God heard Solomon's prayer which indicates that there is always hope in prayer
- It is important that we must pray
- God's people need to fall on our knees and pray

1. True identity
- We can approach God under the new covenant
- Characteristics of a Christian is a person who has:
- A sincere relationship with God
- A love for his people
- Faith through acts of service: Forgiveness, Commitment, Moral Integrity
- It ought to be visible that you're a Christian
- It is important for us to be able to forgive as Christ forgives us
- We have to ask the question of whether or not we are God's people
2. We must be humble
- God's people must not be prideful
- Pride reminds God of Satan
- Jesus did many miracles but only a few in His own town because of pride and unbelief (Mark 6:4-6)
- We have to make sure we are not prideful
- Pride undermines our faith
- We must recognize that we need to stay humble
- Recognize our need for God and our inability to save ourselves
- Recognize where our power and help comes from its all God and not ourselves
3. We must pray
- We should pray in confidence (Nehemiah 2:4-5)
- Our prayers can restore our relationship with God
- Prayer is an opportunity to demonstrate our trust in God
- Prayer is a great privilege
- Prayer brings everything that God's wants us to have
- When we pray in God's will, that brings confidence
- When we pray in God's will, it aligns our hearts with His and provides wisdom to recognize His plans
- It is important for us to have wisdom
- We need wisdom and the only way to obtain true wisdom is through God
4. We need to repent
- Even though we may be saved, we still need to actively repent of our sins daily
- Repentance is vital to turn from sin and to turn toward God
- Even though God forgives us, we must repent to grow and to have freedom
- When we are in sin, we are hiding from God
- When we hold grudges, that is a spirit of bondage
- The problem is that when we are in sin, we're in bondage
- Growth can be hindered because of unrepentance of sin
- We need an open communication with God because He is the one that is in control of our lives
- Repentance makes an inward change a visible reality
