Services

SunDAY: 9 AM Sunday School, 10:30AM Worship /TuesDAY 6 pm prayer/ WedNESDAY 6PM Bible study

Apr. 20, 2025

Background:

  • We can not have a relationship with the Father without the blood of Jesus Christ
  • It cost more to redeem us than to make us
  • Creation was the work of God's fingers but redemption was the work of His arms (Psalm 8:3)

Key Sermon Points:

1. What did God redeem believers from?

  • Redemption is the payment to buy back from bondage
  • We were alienated from God because of our sins
  • Only Christ's redemption can break bondage (Romans 6:6;16-17)
  • If Christ had not died for us we would still be in bondage to sin
  • We have been redeemed from lust and ignorance from not knowing who God is (1 Peter 1:14)
  • We have been redeemed by aimless ideas bondage and traditions (Matthew 15:1-6)
  • We must be careful of what our friends and parents are studying because if it is not in the word of God we need not practice it
  • Once we are saved we are freed from sin, but not sinning
  • We are not truly free from sin until we get into heaven
  • It was not corruptible items like silver and gold but something more precious, the precious blood of Jesus Christ

2. What did God redeem believers with?

  • All sin is against God and God has a right to set the terms of redemption
  • The price he required as payment was the life of his only begotten son (Acts 20:28)
  • The blood was not any blood but it was precious and without blemishes or spots
  • Jesus' blood was precious because He was sinless
  • No animal sacrifice can actually take away sin only cover sin (Numbers 6:14)
  • Christ was not only the sacrificial lamb but he was also the scapegoat that paid for sin in full
  • When Christ died it was not in secret but he died for the whole world to see
  • Those sacrifices show the deadly effect of sin
  • Sin has a way of making us hide under the cover of darkness
  • God exposes all that stuff
  • Nothing but the blood of Jesus can make us whole again
  • Instead of staining us with blood it washes us
  • Jesus gave his blood to pardon the guilty, to free the slaves, reconcile his enemies, and wash away the stains of sins

3. By whom did God redeem believers?

  • When Adam and Eve sinned it did not surprise God
  • Before the fall God had already prepared to send his Son
  • There is nothing new under the sun
  • The cover of darkness comes over the whole land when Jesus was on the cross
  • The earth quaked and rocks were splitting
  • The veil of the temple was ripped from the top to the bottom
  • Lives were changed at the cross
  • After his crucifixion and his resurrection that the graves opened up and the saints came out of the graves and they were resurrected
  • The price was paid and paid in full
