Background
- Worship is bringing our best to Christ
- Genuine worship results in being submissive and obedient to Christ
- Jesus is the Son of living God, more than a prophet, more than a leader
- Jesus is the Son of God (Matthew 3:17, Matthew 8:29)
Key Sermon Points:
1. The proof of His divine authority
- He made the disciples get in the boat and go to the other side (John 6:14-15)
- When Jesus speaks, we must listen
- Jesus does not waste words
- It is up to us to believe and follow Jesus' instructions
- Jesus showcases his divine authority by not being affected by the large crowd
- If Jesus showcases the need to pray, why don't we?
- A lot of times we don't take the time to go to our own "mountains" to pray to seek God's face to restore us
- We have to have a clear perspective as what God wants us to do
- A lot of time we operate in the flesh because we don't go to God first
2. Christ's presence conquers fear
- The disciples did exactly what Christ said to do but the storm still came
- There are storms that we cannot conquer
- There are times in our lives that we must go through storms
- There are things that God will put in our path that we cannot fix
- Jesus gave them assurance with his presence and his words (Isaiah 41:10)
3. Peter's faith was weak
- Weak faith tends to lack endurance
- Our faith must be tested
- When we trust God it allows God to demonstrate his power
- As long as we have our eyes on Jesus, we won't sink
- We must keep our eyes on Jesus
- Peter's faith wavered once he took his focus off of Jesus
- When we are sinking, Jesus is already there to catch us
